japanese antique gourd-shaped Incense Burner with gold decoration of cranes and young pine tree

It is made by Taka-Maki-e, Hira-Maki-e, Togidashi Maki-e and Kirigane (Kirigane) techniques on Nashiji (Nashiji) ground.

The shape is “Akoda(gourd)” type, but the size is very small and it is probably made by special order for portable use or for traveling.The cranes are carefully depicted, and the bottom is nashiji (nashiji), showing the overall attention to detail of the work.The chimney is original and in beautiful condition, and the incense burner is a lovely size that fits in the palm of one’s hand.
